Crafting Coastal Spirits: Holly Klintworth's Legacy of Tradition and Innovation


Following in the footsteps of her founder father, Wayne, Holly Klintworth took over as Head Distiller of this Mornington Peninsula distillery in 2016, becoming part of a select group of second-generation distillers in Australia.

Bass & Flinders Distillery blends traditional techniques with innovative Australian flavors, crafting unique gins, brandies, and liqueurs using locally sourced botanicals and seasonal ingredients.


Drawing inspiration from their coastal home where the sea meets the wine-growing hinterland, Holly handcrafts their grape-based eau de vie spirit on site, using traditional methods from the Charente region of France. Victorian wine specially crafted to their desired flavour profile is double distilled in small batches using a gas-fired alembic pot still - a method designed to celebrate the flavour and viscosity provided by the grapes. Matching this base spirit with foraged local produce and botanicals such as cherries, saltbush, kelp and samphire creates a unique flavour profile.
